Locally based company "the kilt hire co", who celebrate a significant 20 year anniversary of trading in April this year, recently showed those big fashion cities, New York, Paris, and Milan a thing or two when they were asked to dress top class Scottish rock act Biffy Clyro for their appearance at the Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh to see out the auld year and bring in 2011.
Tartan trousers were specially tailored with only a couple of weeks notice for lead singer Simon Neil (pictured) and the rest of the band, with a tartan suit in the kilt hire co's unique tartan, Hebridean Ice requested for the new guitarist. Lead singer Simon and the two brothers in the band, James and Ben, all opted for their family tartans, choosing low waistline, narrow bottomed trousers. Although the deadline was tight, everything fitted perfectly and the band were delighted - even the Press loved them and agreed that of all the bands performing, Biffy Clyro pulled it off perfectly.
The kilt hire co's strategy has always been to stock the best of Scottish sourced and manufactured products for both hire and sale at realistic prices. This is important to Director, Paul Swadzba who feels strongly that offering only good quality Scottish manufactured products ensures that his product range will last and look better for longer. The company has traditionally supplied bespoke hand made tailored kilts but due to increasing customer demand will soon be adding hand finished off the peg kilts to their range.
The retail trade is notoriously affected by the ups and downs in the economy - and Paul comments that "in spite of the current tough economic climate, thankfully the company is still trading after 20 years - let's face it, I've just had to find profit out of less turnover. Having good accountants who are proactive and give good sound advice on saving costs and maintaining profits is paramount". However, annual events round the corner such as Burns night will most certainly keep the company very busy with kilt hire this month!
