Crummock (Scotland) Limited is a privately owned company which, from its founding roots as an earth moving contractor back in 1991, has grown into a successful and profitable multi-disciplinary construction and surfacing company, with customers throughout Scotland and the North of England. The company has also expanded internationally delivering innovative solutions for the refurbishment of living spaces, water, electrical and HVAC systems in the oil and gas sector in West Africa.
In its last financial year, the company increased turnover and profit despite the economic downturn. Although business is tough to win and margins are being squeezed, the current financial year is also looking healthy. The Directors believe that business from repeat customers in the private and public sector go a long way to achieving this. Derek Hogg, Director of Crummock’s Surfacing Division commented; “We endeavour to do the right thing by the customer and this has led to satisfied customers and repeat business, with large multinationals such as Asda being a client for over 15 years.”
To ensure that customers receive the best service, Crummock has continued to invest in plant and facilities. Indeed, a new 520m2 workshop is being opened in January 2013 to ensure that Crummock continues to provide the best maintenance facilities for its vehicles, plant and machinery.
Alex Jeffrey, Director of Crummock’s Civil Engineering and Oil and Gas Divisions added “We take a solution based approach to all our projects. Our Civil Engineering and Surfacing Divisions work in harmony to offer customers a “one-stop shop” and economies of scale for combined civil engineering and surfacing projects.” Crummock’s Value Engineering approach also means that it can help reduce project costs by offering and implementing alternative and innovative construction solutions, especially if they are involved early in the design stages of a project.
Working as a principal contractor or on work packages within a larger project, some of Crummock’s clients include names you will recognise: Midlothian Council, Bilfinger Berger UK, West Lothian Council, City of Edinburgh Council, Asda Stores, University of Edinburgh, Scottish Rugby Union, East Lothian Council, Fife Council, North Lanarkshire Council, Morgan Sindall, ExxonMobil and Esso Angola and many more.
