New Recruit - Kirsty Ashworth
After graduating from Edinburgh University with an MA (Hons) in Business and Accounting, I completed my CA training with Findlay & Co in Dundee and later joined French Duncan LLP in Edinburgh. At both firms, my role was a combination of preparing financial statements and auditing companies and charities.
Following three years working in industry, I decided to re-enter practice and joined Springfords 6 months ago. I believe that my time in industry has given me greater insight into how businesses operate and this is something that will benefit the clients I work with at Springfords.
My role as an Account Manager at Springfords is to prepare financial statements and complete audits. I am excited to work with such a friendly and client-focused group at Springfords who have a fresh approach to the accounting world.
New Recruit - Renee Wells
Having trained and qualified as a CA with the then Touche Ross & Co, I made the move to work in tax; stayed with them there and witnessed its transformation into today’s Deloitte.
My tax role for the last 20 years, firstly in the Corporate Tax department and latterly in the Entrepreneurial Business Group, has given me a varied range of corporate and personal tax experiences and challenges as the tax legislation expanded in their volumes over the years.
As the winds of change approached, I contacted Jimmy Hair (our Corporate Tax Partner); I had worked with him previously and know how good he is.
I have now been at Springfords for 3 months – my colleagues are friendly and helpful - and as far as I can see, they are truly committed to their clients’ well-being and they really do look beyond the numbers.
New Recruit - Sharon Docherty
After graduating from Strathclyde University with a BA (Hons) in Accounting, Mathematics and Statistics I joined the private client tax department at KPMG Glasgow. My first year was spent preparing tax returns. After this I transferred to the International Executive Services department in London, where I worked for 18 months. I decided it was time to return to Scotland and joined the corporate tax department where I continued my career for another 4 years before returning to private client tax.
I have found Springfords to be a very friendly firm and have been impressed by the close interaction between the different departments which ensures that the clients' needs are always put first.
Welcome Back - Dave Souness
Lots of you will remember Dave Souness who was a Tax Adviser with Springfords for ten years until July 2008 when he left to set up his own business with wife Yvonne. We are delighted that Dave has agreed to return to Springfords on a part-time basis assisting Linda Johnstone in our busy Payroll Group.
