Fiona Donaldson, one of our Tax Partners, has been appointed chair of the “Lunch with an Old Bag” Committee. Launched in 2009, Lunch with an Old Bag is the brainchild of James Thomson OBE, who generously hosts the event each year at Prestonfield House. To date, the event has raised over £600,000 for The Prince’s Trust Scotland, and is the Trust’s biggest fundraising event outside of London. Last year’s event raised a record £265,000, and the Committee are already working hard towards creating some incredible features to make this year an even bigger success! Fiona tells us that the only challenge which comes remotely close is getting all our clients’ tax returns submitted by 31st January!
This year’s lunch is on Friday 13th September, when 450 of Scotland’s most influential, high profile and glamorous ladies (and a few lucky men) will gather at the stunning Prestonfield House for the most dazzling event of the year, to raise vital funds for The Prince’s Trust. This year’s entertainment is still “under wraps”, but past lunches have included musical performances from Lulu, Russell Watson and Jason Donovan.
Founded in 1976 by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, The Prince’s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to turn their lives around. Now firmly established as the UK’s leading youth charity, the Trust helps 13 to 30 year olds to get into self-employment, education and training every year. Thanks to the funds raised by Lunch with an Old Bag, many young people in Scotland now believe in themselves, and believe they have a future.
Funds are raised through a silent auction, where past prizes have included lavish dining experiences, pampering packages, luxury holidays and, of course, designer handbags! All items are showcased on the Lunch with an Old Bag website (http://www.lunchwithanoldbag.com/), featured in the event programme, and promoted via screens on the day. If anyone would like to support the fantastic work of the Prince’s Trust by donating an auction prize, Fiona would love to hear from you – email@example.com.
