Springfords were delighted to sponsor two events held in Midlothian recently:
We were asked to sponsor a Maths Challenge at St David's High School on Wednesday 8th May organised by their Maths Department. One hundred and twenty five P7 pupils from across Midlothian took part in the Maths Challenge designed to let pupils have fun with maths and also to allow them to meet staff of their associated High School before starting first year in August.
The schools had to work co-operatively with different practical challenges, problem solving and puzzles, before taking part in an exhilarating team relay race against the clock.
Once the teachers from the maths department had added the scores, Springfords awarded scientific calculators to the individual teams with the highest scores and all participants received certificates. The winning school with the highest overall average points was St Mary's RC Primary School in Bonnyrigg, pictured here receiving their engraved glass trophy from our Partner Carol Wright.
Dalkeith RFC Minis Tournament
Hazel Mackay our in-house management accountant, asked Springfords if we would like to sponsor Dalkeith Rugby Club's annual Minis Tournament held on 19th May. Hazel's son Blair, aged 7 started playing rugby for Dalkeith P3 team this year and is enjoying being part of the team. Blair is pictured here with friend Jamie Rae on their way to Dalkeith RFC's kids dinner/disco where they were treated to chicken nuggets and chips.
Springfords helped sponsor the tournament which was attended by over 300 primary school kids and we provided medals for the winners on the day. Parents and volunteers also raised over £2,000 for the minis rugby from the sale of refreshments and a tombola at the event
