After graduating from The University of Glasgow with a Bacc (Hons), I joined the personal tax department at Geoghegans CA in Edinburgh and stayed there for seven years, qualifying as an ATT and a CTA in the process. I managed a varied portfolio there, ranging from farming partnerships to family trusts and everything in between.
A new addition to the family prompted a move closer to home and I have now been a tax adviser at Springfords for three months. I have an even wider range of clients in my portfolio here and relish the challenges this offers. I have found there is a great sense of community spirit throughout the firm and am enjoying taking part in the weird and wonderful activities the charity committee organise to raise money!
I began my career in tax over twenty years ago, working in several Chartered Accountant’s firms and Banks in the Edinburgh area before joining Springfords this year. I specialise in personal tax and have dealt with a wide variety of clients over the years including partnerships, non residents and high net worth individuals.
I have really enjoyed my first few months at Springfords and have been made to feel very welcome. I have, however, had to renew my gym membership to compensate for the amount of cakes, crisps and chocolate which I am being forced to eat.
Outside work, I enjoy cycling, sea kayaking and watching rugby when not acting as a taxi service for my son.
