A Question of Sport Relief!

09 April 2014

As part of Springfords' fund raising effort for Sport Relief this year we asked staff to share with us their "great sporting moments".  We then organised a fund raising quiz where these "moments" had to be matched up to a member of staff............. did you know that:

  • Jane Carmichael (Office Manager) and her family spent a day on a desert safari in Dubai with Phil Tufnell
  • Dave Lochhead (Tax Manager) was University staff snooker champion in 1985
  • Hazel Mackay (Financial Controller) used to drive a mini stock car at Cowdenbeath race track
  • Renee Wells (Tax Adviser) competed in fencing at the 1986 Commonwealth Games
  • Anne Turner's (Accounts Assistant) nephew was the first £1m signing for Aberdeen Football Club and played for Scotland
  • Kirsty Ashworth (Senior Account Manager) is a qualified highland dance teacher

We also held our annual Great Springfords Bake Off that day and the new champion for his Mars Bar cakes is Colin Soutar pictured here receiving his trophy.  How do we reconcile baking with sporting activities you may ask? ....... well all entries had to have a "sporting" theme - simple, you can have your cake and eat it!

Staff were encouraged to dress up in a sporting theme for the day and a healthy £163.70 was sent off to Sport Relief.
