Arrival and Departure!

02 October 2014

Arrival - Emma Brown

After graduating from Heriot Watt University in 2013 with an MA (Hons) Degree in Accountancy and Business Law, Emma began working as a Finance Assistant in a distribution firm, to build on the skills she had gained from working in a small accounting practice for over two years whilst studying.

She joined Springfords in March 2014 and now processes accounting information and prepares VAT returns for a wide variety of clients.

Outside of work, Emma is a keen bowler and plays as part of the Scottish International team.  As well as bowling she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Departure - Lilian Rankine

After 18 years of loyal service, we said a fond farewell to Lilian Rankine who retired from the practice on 29 August.  Lilian worked in our Corporate Group for all of these 18 years and had built up strong relationships with her clients, many of whom have been with Springfords throughout Lilian's long career.

We were all very sad to say au revoir to Lilian but a bit jealous too when she told us about her plans for future holidays with husband Dave, spending more time with family and friends and improving her golf.

Lilian was very popular with clients and staff alike and was a willing participant in all the madcap ideas thought up by the Charity Committee.  One of Lilian's leaving presents was a memory book full of photos of Lil's time at Springfords, which includes a section entitled "dressing up" - she did a lot of that over the years to raise money for charity!

Whilst at Springfords Lilian was affectionately known as "the bag lady" as she was always weighed down with bags of files, laptop bags, handbags etc etc ..........!!  So of course we couldn't let her go without presenting her with her very own "Springfords bag", along with other gifts.

Partners, staff and ex-staff got together to join Lilian for an evening at the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh for a meal and ceilidh - we wish a fond farewell and every future happiness to a much loved member of staff in her retirement.
