Christmas 2014 was a busy time for Springfords Employee Charity Committee.
Our annual kids Christmas Party has grown from strength to strength over the years and this year was the best ever with 19 kids aged 0 to12 enjoying food, games, face painting and – as always the highlight of the evening – a visit from Santa himself. The party was paid for by holding a Christmas raffle and other fun fund raising activities within the office, like “Guess the weight of the Christmas cake”, beautifully baked and donated by Hazel Mackay from our Admin Group.
Springfords again signed up as a Collection Point for the Forth 1 Mission Christmas Appeal. Many thanks go to staff, clients and contacts who contributed to the Appeal, which provided Christmas presents to over 11,000 under priviliged children across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We also had fun supporting “Wear A Christmas Jumper” day with staff wearing their favourite Christmas jumper to work, raising funds for Save The Children UK in the process.
Our thoughts didn’t just turn to children in need in 2014 - as in previous years we purchased 5 places from Crisis at Christmas – each place provides a homeless person with three nutritious hot meals including Christmas dinner, a shower and change of clothes, health checks, housing and employment advice and is often instrumental in turning lives around. If you would like more information on the work of Crisis, please visit their website here.
So, another busy fund raising year comes to an end – we’re chuffed to bits with our total for the year of just over £3,000 which will be distributed to worthy causes very soon.
