"Old Bags" do it again!

28 October 2015

Regular readers will know that Springfords is extremely proud to sponsor “Lunch with an Old Bag”, the fabulous  fundraising lunch for The Prince’s Trust in Scotland, held annually in September at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.

Fiona Donaldson, our Private Client Tax Partner, chairs the LWOB Committee, which has helped raise over £1.5m at LWOB over the past 3 years. As you can see, they were over the moon about this year’s total, which, at £550K, topped the amazing £544K raised in 2014! That extraordinary total makes LWOB the biggest Prince’s Trust fundraiser outside London, and brings total funds raised by LWOB in its first seven years to over £2 million.

Fiona is also a member of the Council of The Prince's Trust Scotland, which has given her the opportunity to meet many young people whose lives have been transformed by the Trust.

“A lot of those young people are aware of Lunch with an Old Bag, and their interest and enthusiasm have reinforced for me just how crucial LWOB is. Not only have we raised £2.1 million over the past seven years, which means 2,100 young Scottish lives transformed, but we’ve challenged the labelling of young people, by gathering together glamorous, gorgeous and successful women from all walks of life, and labelling them 'Old Bags'! ”

LWOB is invitation only, and, thanks to James Thomson, who sponsors the entire glittering event at Prestonfield, there’s no charge for a table, making it an extremely sought-after, money-can’t-buy, ticket!  Over 400 generous ladies from Edinburgh and beyond (along with a handful of very brave men!) bid enthusiastically for a selection of wonderful auction prizes, as well as buying raffle tickets in the hope of winning the famous Old Bag “Hot Rock”, a stunning diamond ring sponsored by Knight Property Group, and sourced each year by Edward Green, the man who has designed jewellery for the monarchy.

Fiona and the Committee are already thinking ahead to 2016, which will see the celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust, and the 8th Lunch with an Old Bag, which promises to be extra special!
