Springfords staff have been pulling on their trainers and pounding the streets over the winter months to train (with a few notable exceptions, who shall remain nameless but you know who you are!) for various running events in Edinburgh.
First up on 28 May were Jane Carmichael, our Office Manager and Kerrie Jones from our Tax Group (pictured below) who took on the Edinburgh Marathon 10k. Our Financial Controller, Hazel Mackay went one better the next day when she completed her first ever half marathon - well done girls. But top marks go to our super endurance athlete, Jennifer Smith who switched from her usual 100 mile walk events to complete her first ever marathon in 4 hours, 4 mins (and 33 secs). Jennifer said "running the marathon was shorter but tougher than walking, mainly because of the amount of training you need to do which makes you more prone to injury - it was thanks to my Physio that I made it through". Jennifer now intends to combine the two disciplines when she takes on her first ever trail run in November in the Glenogle 33 - check it out here.
Inspired by their older colleagues, the younger contingent from our Business Group entered the Cancer Research 10k in Holyrood Park on 19 June. Alison Cameron and Emma Logan (Team A&E), pictured here "pretty in pink" with their colleague, Laura Houston all finished the race, with Laura recording a very creditable time of 54 mins. Another of their colleagues, Nadine Blackhall also completed the Cancer Research 10k and is pictured below with her daughters, Sarah-Leigh and Emilie. Watch this space to find out how they get on in the half marathon next year!
