Springfords audit and Assurance team

Audit & Assurance

We don’t think an audit should just be about ticking boxes. Our audit techniques are tailored to your business and our assessment of the areas of risk. We concentrate on key audit areas and avoid matters that are unlikely to be material (unless of course you would like us to be seen counting the petty cash!).

Patrica Reekie is one of our Audit & Assurance team partners.

Findlay Paul – Findlay is an Associate in the firm, specialising in providing audit and accounting services and advice to family owned businesses and investor funded companies, along with acting for charities and other entities. Findlay qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and has experience of working with a variety of businesses, from sole traders, during his training in Stirling with a national firm, to subsidiaries of international groups and large privately owned businesses while working at well known international accountancy firms. Findlay's solid grounding in accounting during his training and subsequent experience of working with larger organisations gives him a rounded experience in addition to his technical accounting knowledge and skills. Out of the office, Findlay enjoys cycling, photography and hillwalking.

Paul Hutchison - Paul first undertook an honours degree in mathematics and statistics, then later undertook an M Phil in statistical time series analysis, both at St Andrews. He qualified as a CA in 1998 while working with a firm in London. Paul has considerable technical skills and a great interest in all forms of IT and technology. He obtained some hands on experience in a financial role in commerce before returning to the profession with Springfords in 2000.  As an Associate, he takes charge of a number of our larger clients, ensuring timely delivery of accounting, audit and other services. He also plays a significant role in the firm’s IT strategy, being a major advocate of using the latest technology to get things done efficiently. Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and playing with all forms of technology.

Jennifer  Smith – Jennifer qualified as a CA in 1995 and has over 20 years' experience in general practice. She joined Springfords in 2005 and is responsible for a portfolio of clients covering a wide variety of owner-managed SME clients. Her role includes preparation and audit of statutory accounts, preparation of quarterly management accounts as well as assisting clients with other financial advice such as financial forecasting. Outside of work she enjoys walking (both long distance and walking her dogs who are not so keen on the long distances!), going to the gym and, as she's always looking for a new challenge has just recently taken up running.  When not out exercising, she also enjoys spending time at home with her husband, two dogs (Ben & Murphy) and a glass or two of wine!

Kirsty Ashworth – Kirsty completed her CA training in Dundee after graduating from Edinburgh University with an MA (Hons) in Business and Accounting, and later worked in a general practice firm in Edinburgh. At both firms, she specialised in preparing financial statements and auditing companies and charities. Following her decision to gain some experience as an accountant in industry, Kirsty worked as the Finance Co-ordinator for a charity in Fife for three years, before joining Springfords in 2012 as an Account Manager in our Audit Team. Kirsty works on a number of audit assignments, as well as preparing financial statements for our clients in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys swimming and reading, as well as curling up on the sofa with a glass of wine and a good film, after a meal at the local Indian restaurant.
