Springfords Personal Tax team

Personal Tax

Whatever your views on the personal tax burden, we have Tax Advisers who’ll be able to help you.

We work with the same tax rules and regulations as everyone else. But we like to think that we can get beyond the jargon to interpret and explain what it really means for our clients.

That way, we can ensure that our clients meet all their personal tax obligations in good time, pay the right amount of tax (and not a penny more!), and take advantage of any tax planning opportunities available to them.

Fiona Donaldson is our Personal Tax team partner

Ian Haynes - Ian is an Associate at Springfords, and works in our personal tax department.  He originally started his tax career working for HMRC, but after eight years of the Civil Service, he jumped ship and began working in practice.  Since then, he has represented famous footballers to fencing contractors, Knights of the Realm to neuro-surgeons.  In short, having now worked in tax for over twenty years, he has been exposed to a breadth of client issues and having worked "for the other side" still helps, even now.

At Springfords, Ian deals with many of our new clients when they initially come to us, and also provides a hands on service, giving client focused advice on personal tax issues, which commonly extend into other areas of taxation.  He also specialises in EIS and tax residence work, and regularly writes on various issues for our e-newsletters and online social media pages.  He loves music almost as much as he loves his family, and spends as much time as possible indulging in both.

Julie Zasada - Julie joined our Personal Tax team in 2013, having spent 7 years with a firm in the city centre. She is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser. Julie works with a varied portfolio of tax clients, including individuals, partnerships and trusts, dealing with both the routine compliance and any tax planning that may be required. She particularly relishes slogging it out on clients’ behalves with HMRC over a wide variety of enquiries into self assessment tax returns. At home, Julie’s young son keeps her on her toes and she regularly indulges her husband’s love of motorbikes with ‘leg-numbing’ trips up North on the back of a bike. She is the treasurer of her local baking club and, to counter the cakes, spends (too much she says!) time sweating it at the gym.

Malcolm Wright - Malcolm began his career in tax over 20 years ago, working in several Chartered Accountancy firms and Banks in the Edinburgh area before joining Springfords in 2013.  He specialises in personal tax and has dealt with a wide variety of clients over the years, including partnerships, non residents and high net worth individuals.  Outside work, Malcolm enjoys cycling, sea kayaking and watching rugby, when not acting as a taxi service for his son.
